Designer Crush: Doloris Petunia by Courtney Prince

I am head over heels in love with Doloris Pentunia by Courtney Prince. Her custom made jewelry line is insane. She hand dyes vintage crystal to create bold, unique, eye catching pieces. Browse through the ones below and check out her Etsy shop, but try not to drool on your computer :)

Flower Power

Floral Dress--gift from a beautiful friend with impeccable style (super fun style here), Steve Madden Pumps (similar style here), J.Crew Bracelets (similar style here), Vintage Earrings (similar style here)

I'm loving bright floral prints that POP right now! When it comes to florals the styling possibilities are endless. You can accessorize using the smallest color in the print to the most dominate color to completely revamp the look. As long as you are pulling colors from the print you will create a cohesive, polished look.

Tie Dye For

Chelsea Flower Vest (adorable style here), Leu by Wilfred Dress, L.A.M.B HeelsMicha Design Cuff

We must talk about these shoes. I saw them in Vegas and fell madly in love, but they didn't have my size so I left devastated. I was about to board my flight and I had to buy them right there in the airport on my phone. I HAD to! I could not wait one more second. We were destined to be together...HA! Obviously when I received them in the mail I was beyond excited to wear them. One problem...I noticed they were my first pair of shoes with an ankle strap. I mean I am a shoe addict, how did I not try out this style before? I experimented a lot trying to figuring out what to wear them with. I wanted to show off the detail of the shoe, but I didn't want them to make my legs look shorter  (I def can't afford that to happen!!) So here are some tips I learned throughout my trials and errors:
    1. Stick to basic colors--let the shoe stand out and make sure the colors are complimenting the shoe, not competing with it
    2. Avoid capris or pants that cut you off at the calf--it creates a distraction, which cuts your leg off in a strange place. You won't look as long and lean
    3. Avoid form fitting styles--I found a more loose silhouette was more leg-lengthening
I would love to hear how you would wear these shoes! Let me know your thoughts :)

Green Dream

Dress Anthropologie (for similar styles look below), Zara Heels (hot style here!), Kate Spade Sunnies (only left in blue here and similar tortoise style here)

I spotted a girl wearing this loose shift dress and I immediately darted after her (probably looking like a crazy fool) to find out where she got it. Not only did fabulous color catch my eye, but I couldn't believe how flattering it looked. You would think a loose dress like this would give you absolutely no shape, but the key is to make sure it hits you above the knee. Any longer and it tends to look frumpy and shapeless (Still feeling lost in a loose dress? Cinch the waist with a belt, which is always a quick way to show off your figure). Of course she got it at Anthropologie, which is one store I could spend endless hours in. To be honest I wouldn't mind setting up shop and just living there! Here are some similar styles in stores and online now:

Flirty Floral

In my opinion a designer doesn't get more romantic and whimsical than Rebecca Taylor. Sequins, ruffles, and flirty floral prints...her designs have everything a girly girl could ever dream of! I almost passed out of complete shock when I saw this gorgeous dress hanging on the sale rack at Bloomingdale's. There is even worse news for my bank account: all of her summer designs are on sale! Check out all of her irresistible sale styles here

Maxi Mania

Put hot pink on a maxi skirt and it will automatically end up in my closet. Actually put hot pink on anything and I need it in my closet! I purchased this skirt from Anthropologie about a year ago and it never fails to make me smile when I put it on. Unfortunately Anthro doesn’t carry it anymore, but there are gorg colorful versions out right now (check out F21, Nasty Gal, and ShopBop). Trust me, if you purchase one you will  be smiling from ear to ear.

Denim Mix

About a year ago I could never see myself saying this but I'm officially in love with denim on denim. The key is to mix different washes...I mean you don't want to look like you are wearing a denim jumpsuit or a version of that matching JT and Britney Spears get-up (oh, you definitely know what I'm referring to!)Do you think mixing denim is a YAY or a NAY? I would love to see how you rock it!

Racy Lacy

Club Monaco Lace Shorts (similar here), Alternative Apparel Sweatshirt (LOVE with this one), Zara Heels, Anthropologie Headband, Kiki Designs LA Pendant (beautiful pieces here)

Lace is so beautiful, classic, and can dress any outfit up. I have this current obsession with lace and mint (which is the color everyone loves right now!) Add nude or metallic heels and you are good to go!

Welcome to the Jungle

I'm super excited about my first blog post ever! Thank you so much for reading and I'm sending all my love your way! Now, down to fashion business! Obviously animal print with black is hot, but a tad too predictable. I’m obsessed with adding a pop of color to animal print. Some great colors to try are red, cobalt blue, and emerald green. If you are worried about being too loud, use an accessory as the pop of color. A gorg clutch, shoes, or a scarf are fabulous options.
Lots of love,
Darby
